Black CAP’s Resilient Roots is a free counselling program for African, Caribbean and Black gay and bisexual men who have sex with men (gbMSM). Interested clients may call or email to set up a screening appointment with our experienced and Ontario-licensed, Black-identified counsellor. Counselling sessions are completely confidential and all information and records relating to counselling sessions are kept off-site by the counsellor/consultant. Black CAP does not have access to any of the consultant’s records.
The Resilient Roots program is currently an 18-month program made up of three cohorts of 10-12 gay and bisexual men who have sex with men (gbMSMs). Every cohort has a treatment period of 10 months – so each client gets 10 months of treatment.
Each cohort has three segments as follows:
- Assessment and Trauma Screening (first month)
- Stage One Trauma Intervention and PTSD Screening (5 months)
- Stage Two Trauma Intervention (including CPT) (4 months)
