As the Mental Health Support Worker at Black CAP, Lone aims to provide culturally conscious mental health support to our ACB clients, specifically those living with HIV and/or newcomers and members of the Black LGBTQ+ community. The Mental Health and Wellness Program at Black CAP offers accessible client-centered supportive counseling for all ACB folks within the GTA along with client referrals to our registered psychotherapists. In addition, we provide group programming for folks living with HIV and LGBTQ+ women, and non-binary folks.

Some of the programs that we offer are:

  1. Healthy Body Healthy Minds Group – a closed monthly group specific for African Caribbean and Black people living with HIV. This group provides a safer space for folks to not only share their stories and find connections with others but also take part in different activities to benefit their mental and physical health.
  2. Queer Creatives Club – a new program for intergenerational LGBTQ+ women and non-binary folks looking to find community, build relationships, and express themselves artistically.
  3. Poz Queer Initiative– a closed group specific for folks of all ages who identify as HIV+ LGBTQ+ Women and/ non-binary folks.
